The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that humanity is extremely vulnerable to disease vectors (especially airborne transmission through small respiratory droplets, or by contact with contaminated surfaces). These issues existed before in Romanian hospitals and in public spaces, and the new coronavirus just exaggerated their activity.

For SARS-COV-2 a recent study issued by Boston University (2020) determined that a dose of 5 mJ / cm2 is enough for 99% inactivation of the SARS-COV-2 virus, and a dose of 22 mJ / cm2 for 99.9999 % inactivation.

The study demonstrates the effectiveness of using UV-C light disinfection in classrooms. The COVID-19 pandemic has become a global health issue. This study determines the sensitivity of SARS-CoV-2 to ultraviolet light irradiation. The virus was extremely susceptible in front of ultraviolet light. A viral stock with a high infectious titer of 5 × 10 TCID 50 / mL was completely inactivated by UVC irradiation after nine minutes of exposure. Source:
