Reading this title, you might rhetorically ask:
Which factory? Are there still factories in Romania?
It may seem hard to believe, but before the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, Romania was the 5th most attractive manufacturing market in Europe, while globally, China, the United States, Taiwan, India, and Canada were in the top. Moreover, we know that the industry still has a significant share in the Romanian economy, despite the massive declines and blockages of the last two years (in April 2020, our industry had halved compared to the same month in 2019, the National Institute of Statistics announcing the strongest annual decline in the last 10 years).
Nonetheless, the economy appears to be beginning a cautious rising trend, and we know that all Romanians are hopeful, so there is still some industry in our nation, whether we are talking about producing automobiles, garments, or ultraviolet sterilization of air based on UVC lamps. Not as much as we would want, but there are some really ambitious and vibrant young people starting on this route – manufacturing, thinking about their future as well as Romania’s economy.
We are talking about a factory located in Ploiesti, where devices for air and surface purification, filtration, and UVC disinfection are produced – both for the domestic and foreign markets. WOLF-e ROBOTICS is the company, and it is 100% privately owned Romanian capital.
Who are these UV devices produced for, you might ask?
For hospitals? YES… and for hospitals. Here is the biggest demand, due to nosocomial infections that require prevention measures that are the most professional and fully traceable. High-powered mobile UV robots are at the top in the healthcare sector. But practically, these devices are necessary for any enclosed space that is used and transited by people. In other words, these devices are necessary for any industry: HORECA (restaurants, hotels), kindergartens, schools, stores, offices, polyclinics, hospitals, medical and dental facilities, cosmetic offices, industrial halls, airports, terminals, public transportation, buildings, and public institutions.
The product casings are produced in the factory, in several very rigorously defined stages:
- laser cutting
- plate bending – according to project specifications (bender)
- angle checking
- metalworking
- assembly of the parts
- painting where products are degreased, sanded, and painted in an electrostatic field.
From laser cutting according to the technical design, to locksmithing, assembly, and then painting… directly in your company’s office!
… or immediately at a large event with numerous people, when the air disinfection equipment is crucial!
… or in a physical therapy office!
At ZF Logistica Businessului, a ZF&Element Industrial project, Ștefan Toma, co-founder of Wolf-E Robotics, talks about how his business in the manufacturing industry started with the pandemic and how he sees trends for the near future. So far, the manufacturer have developed partnerships with public hospitals, but mostly with private ones that have been open to technology, innovation, and the manufactured products – devices and mobile robots for ultraviolet sterilization of air and surfaces.
The range of products manufactured under the WOLF-e ROBOTICS brand is based on ultraviolet sterilization and covers all the needs of users – companies of any size, from almost any field of activity: starting with the UVC lamp-based sterilization device, also called the bactericidal lamp or UV disinfection lamp with a minimalist style and manual control, then moving on to the device that contains the bactericidal UV lamp with remote control (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) with integrated application and reaching the mobile robots.
The mobile UV robots are high-power devices for air and surface disinfection, which involve monitoring the quality of disinfection through wireless control via mobile application, web platform for process management and traceability, presence detection for increased safety and ease of use.
