As early as 2003, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States) recommended the use of portable filters in certain high-risk areas such as hospitals and medical offices. However, science has evolved: while HEPA air purifiers are sufficient to filter air, those that also have UV-C technology can destroy pathogens, making indoor air the safest for patients and staff.
